Reviews, the life blood of book sales...
So you've bought a book online, or in a bookshop, a car book sale. You've read it. What then? Does it go on the bookshelf to be read again in the future? Passed on to a friend or family member? Sold in a second hand bookshop to help fund a new purchase? Donated to a charity shop? I've done all of the above, but like most people, what I've rarely done is write a book review on Goodreads, Amazon, etc. Why? It doesn't often occur to you.
But, if I like a book I always tell my like minded friends about it. I'll try and convince them to read it too. I know they'll love it! Of course I'll tell them about it. If you manage to convince 1 other person to buy it you've helped the author, that's a pretty nice thank you to someone who wrote the tale you enjoyed. But... One more sale is maybe €0.50 or €1.00 to the author... Not really a lot is it? However if you logged onto Goodreads, if you logged onto amazon or any of the many online retailers for ebooks and paperbacks and leave your review there, you could give that author 10, 20, 30 more sales. Your works could convince two dozen more like minded individuals that this would be worth their money. The result? Word spreads, the book sells, the author can afford to write the sequel.
Book Reviews and ratings, are the Lifeblood of book sales.
